Lesson 1 : Be Present Simple (1)

1.       Ini adalah beberapa contoh be dalam Present Simple:

                This is my brother. He‘s ten years old. I‘m a student. These are my books.

                They aren’t at home. They‘re at the theatre.

2.       Kita membentuk be dari Present Simple adalah seperti ini:

                POSITIVE 

Singular (tunggal)	Bentuk Panjang I am you are he/she/it is	Bentuk pendek I’m You’re He’s/she’s/it’s
Plural (jamak)	We are You are They are Know : mengetahui,mengenali	We’re You’re They’re

                NEGATIVE

Singular (tunggal)	Bentuk Panjang I am not you are not he/she/it is not	Bentuk pendek I’m not You aren’t He/she/it isn’t
Plural (jamak)	We are not You are not They are not	We aren’t You aren’t They aren’t

3.       Dalam pembicaraan, kita biasanya menggunakan bentuk pendek:

                She‘s my sister.                He‘s my brother.

                I‘m from Indonesia.     They‘re Indonesia.

4.       Kita menggunakan be:

                *untuk mengatakan siapa kita:

                I‘m Andi and this is my friend Rudi. We‘re from Indonesia.

                I‘m Sinta and these are my sister. This is Sandra and this is Rani.
                Sinta and Rani are doctors.

                *untuk mengungkapkan tentang cuaca:

                It‘s cold today.

                It‘s a beautiful day.

                It‘s usually hot here.

                It isn’t very warm today.

                *untuk mengatakan tentang waktu:

                It‘s ten o’clock.

                It‘s half past four.

                You‘re late!

                *untuk mengatakan tentang tempat:

                Aceh is in the north of Sumatera.

                Andi and Rudi are in Jakarta.

                *untuk mengatakan tentang usia seseorang:

                        My sister is six years old.
